Today, as India surges ahead in its quest to emerge as a global super power, the challenges facing it are equally formidable with ‘energy consumption’ topping the list. We are the fourth largest energy consumers in the world after China, USA and Russia. India imports 43% of its energy requirements. By 2030, this will constitute more than 53% of our consumption.
With limited domestic natural resources, a burgeoning population and volatile geo-political factors; the energy deficit can turn out to be a serious handicap to our aspirations. More importantly, the increased focus of the planet on curtailing greenhouse emissions has resulted in the developed world laying down stringent norms to tap into conventional energy sources. This can seriously derail the fast pace of urbanization and development goals we have set out for ourselves.
Hence, renewable energy is no longer an option; it is the only choice and a sensible one at that! The sooner the nation makes the transition to renewable sources of energy, the greater will be the economic, political and environmental benefits accruing to it. Transition is the need of the hour: a transition to renewable energy! We at ‘Helios’ pride ourselves on being partners in this change.
